The VK3001 P is horrible, sure it's okay when fully upgraded, but that's just barely.
Now, the VK3001 H/VK3601 H are real tanks. The VK3001 H is very agile, a small profile, looks clean, and has the same gun. It's a pure medium.

The VK3601 H is everything you would want out of a Heavy line in a Medium line.. It's got the bounciness, it's got the stature, and it's got the HP. It also has the low profile, unlike the VK3001 P which has issues hiding behind cover.

Between all 3 of these, I would personally go for the VK3001 H, but sadly, I was on the Pz IV line.

I've somehow managed two Steel Wall awards in the VK 3001 P.  I've never said the upgraded tank is bad, but the stock tank is just so incredibly slow that you can't take advantage of anything, even the limited firepower it has.  At the time, I was trying not to use free experience to research upgrades, since that would force me to stay longer with the tank and build up the crew training from its start at 50% (I didn't transfer crew or buy training back then either).  But the 3001 broke me, I had to use free experience to get the engines and tracks, it was just so painful otherwise.  Once I did that, things rapidly improved.  When I revisited it to get to the Tiger P when it was introduced, it was quite fun, very quick and mobile.  I use the 75 L70 in preference, though, to the 88 L56.

dont for get most tankes suck stock anyway but I like the VK 3601 as soon as I got better gun and moter it fights hard. I will have to try the 3001 some time to see how it gose but think I will head to the tiger first. anyone know sould I go with tiger or VK 3002?

The main issue I am having is with my new 3601 the same one I just went through with the Pz III/IV: You are matched in a way that makes you almost useless except as a distraction. Especially as a almost stock tank; even though i did get the conical gun right away. Too many tanks I face I have a hard time damaging, or do too little damage, and many of them only need one or two shots on my fron to kill me.
I seriously think the German tanks have been gimped way too much; particularly with the mid tiers.

Don't use the konisch gun on vk3601H unless you're using gold ammo with it. You won't be doing enough damage with it to do much killing.

Use the other 75mm guns until you unlock the short 88mm.

Back in pre 7.0 the 105mm HE derp gun was a viable choice before unlocking the 88mm, but now, the 105mm derp gun is quite useless.

But I digress.  The difference between 50mm and 75mm of armor is, with 50, every tier 4 tank is a threat to you from the front.  At 75, many of them have a high risk of bouncing from the front, as well as allowing tier 5 mediums to also have high risks of bouncing (PZIV excluded).  That's not to be trifled with, though neither of these armor values (including the 3601) will matter if you're thrown into a match against an IS-4.

All I can say is that I kept my 3601. 3001? nope. I avoided the 3001P by going via the 3002DB. 3002DB would have been a good tank had the Panther not been better. Panther has 60% win ratio. 3601 was about 58%. 3001H was about 50%. Tiger I & II has 40% - MM has not been kind.

Honestly, the only tier 6 tank with enough armor to really matter is the VK3601H, KV-3, and the ARL-44. The rest of them can be penned by almost anything they fight.

Increase the acceleration or the max engine hp for it, and then I might like it. I'm used to what the short 88 can and cannot do, and handling what to do with higher tiered enemies, it's just that compared to the 3601 you'd see everything wrong with the 3001P.

As it stands for me (compared to a 3601):
- Acceleration is terrible, and it's hard to avoid getting shot with it
- Even with a 60 km/h top speed, maintaining 50km/h on flat road is already a pain in the butt.
- The thing couldn't and shouldn't soak up damage (lower HP and armor)

The problem also is that other Tier 6's have better qualities:
- T34/85 - big gun, low armor
- KV-3 - nice gun (107), slow as hell
- VK3601 - better armor and hp
- E8 - rapid firing gun, quick accel, almost non-existent armor
- M6 - 90mm gun, way better front armor than the T1, though it's big

Enjoyed my time in the 3001(P). It was a great mini-Tiger P, minus the crazy-thick armor. Played the 3601 also, and had equal success.

Now that I have hit the higher tiers I wish I had kept it. It was easy to come out rich in battles with those tier 5 and 6 tanks.

I have all the German tanks above below and to the sides of the P and have recently re-bought them because higher tier battles just aren't as fun for me anymore...

My Question, I haven't studied how the match maker treats the 3001P and H compared to the VK3601.

Who has a thought on that??

And really, I just shot a Chaffee in the back from 30m and did 3% damage with the 3601's top tier gun. I literally cold not do enough damage fast enough to keep him from mauling the Ferdinand I was trying to cover. And then he killed me; i was already at 50% by that time though from 1 hit.
