Same gun as the KV-3 ...but minus the turret and armor. The 122 feels *barely* adequate with the T9 matches I'm constantly placed in. The preceeding TDs felt like they at least has superior guns to their MBT counterparts (sacrificing the turrent and armor).
The stock gun was just torture to play with, I keep reading that shit gets reals once you get the 122mm but I'm just not feeling. I really like my KV-3, it's fun but this damn thing is starting to feel like a choir (can't pass up the daily XP bonus!).
Seriously, what am I supposed to do with this thing??
What's the purpose of the SU-100?

Its awhile ago since i had the SU-100 but i really enjoyed playing it at the time i was sorry to see it go but my crew where at 100% and the MM wasnt as screwed for the mid tiered vehicles as it is now you might have better luck and grow to love the SU-100 if you tried it in tank companies where your not going to come across the higher tiered vehicles

You are like 3 times more mobile. Your KV3 isn't going to do too hot in tier 9 matches either, and it can't run away or hide from big tanks like SU100 can.

Forget the 122mm and use the upgraded 100mm: your shots will hit more often, will cost 1/4 and have the same penetration with more DPM. Sure you lose some "Alpha" but you'll make money and still do well around your Tier.
Personally I keep mine purely as an XP Tank ready to research the new line of Soviet TDs due in maybe 0.7.3

Or, just gather 36-40K or so XP in it now and then sell it intruder313
, unless you're using it to gather free XP as well.
Both the 100mm and 122mm have their advantages and disadvantages.
The 122mm's high alpha and longer reload means you have to poke out less often, which is an advantage for a tank that has barely any armor and can't really bounce shots.
The 100mm has more DPM, and is both more accurate and aims faster.
I personally preferred the 100m, and I drove like a t-34-85: a long range sniper that can relocate quite quickly, with good penetration and DPS.

I suppose, the purpose is, uh.. it doesn't get into tier 10 matches? Tier 6 TDs are marginally less screwed by matchmaker than tier 6 heavies.

To show you how good you had it on the SU-85.
I sold mine as soon as I got it.

SU-100 was one of my best tanks, and I never even got to researching the tracks or engine. It gets matched quite well, and I averaged the same or more income with it as my SU-85, and that's using the 122.

SU1OO is a brilliant tank. It is popular in Tier 6 Tank companies, and it is popular as a money maker. The SU1OO is MUCH more mobile than even the KV1S, nevermind the KV3. I do not know what the other poster is thinking. SU1OO has alright track traverse, and has quite a top speed, and is lighter than KV1S. SU1OO also has decent rates of fire, over the Soviet heavies, as expected. With either the D1O 1Ocm or the D25 12.2cm it is a capable tank hunter that is much more feared than the JagPZIV or M36 Jackson. You are probably fustrated with a stock vehicle, I do not recommend you going down the German TD line if thats the case, SU1OO is amazing.

you dont have to use 122 while 100 will do fine and I believe everyone say 122 on su 100 is a meh.
122 wont be good with only 1 loader, contrast with 2 loaders in su 152 which can fire 122 as fast as 100 in su 100.

But whatever you end up deciding on this TD, liking it or just loathing it, don't get rid of it, hold on to it, listen to what Intruder313 said, the new Soviet TD line breaks off of the SU-100 this spring so keep it in your garage, if you haven't, throw a Rammer, Binocs and Cammo on that baby and it will really shine, the Binocs and Cammo will make you a ghost killing machine.
Edit: Really, someone gave me a -1 for this post.

Use free xp to jump ahead. I HATED this tank. It made me stop TD's altogether for a couple months. Worse one in the line if you ask me.

I'm thinking that TDs need more advantages to make up for their lack of turret, and the SU-100 doesn't have enough advantages compared to the KV-1S.

su100 is awesome, i got 1222 battles on it! yes kv3 is better is most aspect but su100 is faster, better view range, harder to detect, loads faster, better accuracy, and is iconic in history

SU-100 fires faster, the gun's more accurate with less aiming time, and it's got much much better camo.

Ouch, thread is a -1 minefield. Someone's being mean. Everyone who got a -1 in this thread got a +1 from me to offset it.

Camo's the tricky part. I sort of like the idea of a TD, but I suck at using camo well. I guess it's a great tank if you are good with camo. Maybe I'll keep grinding in my SU-85 until I get 100% camo skill on all my crew, then transfer it over. Then again, I'll be missing a loader when I get to the SU-152. How much does it help, anyways?
This is all talking under the assumption of using 122mm ofc. Even through 100mm is more economically efficient, 122 is what really makes this tank shine.
