M4 with Derp gun all day everyday. That tank has good speed, nice derp gun, money maker, but low armor. I have never tried the M7 but would not trade my M4 for it lol

With the M7 you will also be a big target for others because they know they can 2-shot you pretty much.

I prefer the M7, even though the armor sucks. But i generally prefer fast tanks with fast guns (i.e.  Chaffee). M7 will definitely take some getting used to, as you can't just waltz in and expect the survive. It's best as an harassing tank with the 6-pounder.

If you like adrenaline fuled, brawling madness, M7 is your game. It's like a poor man's Chaffee. And like a Chaffee it can create absolulte chaos if it makes it into the enemy line and beyond. I have played both the M4 and the M7 and prefer the M7 by a rather large margin. It is a very rewarding tank once you figure it out.

Edit: Clarified that I prefer the M7 to M4, not over Chaffee. Chaffee wins all.

The M7 is a bloated M5. It has only marginally better armor and yet retains the speed. Although most players like the M4, I'll root for the M7. The M7 is fast, agile, and has good guns when upgraded. Think of it like an American PzIII/IV with higher rate of fire and lower armor.

i haven't tried the M4 but do have the E8...
i also sold my M7 to make room for the E8....and i also find myself kinda wanting the M7 back, though not sure why...
i'm not the Scout type, but the M7 makes a very effective scout with more armor than most (although neglible still) decent QF gun that fires extremely fast...good view range and availability of the top USA radio...
so if you're interested in learning to scout, along with scouting's other duties such as, harrassing and arty hunting, i definitely recommend the M7...if you want a more traditional Medium, go with the M4...

m4 Sherman all the WAY! I havent't tried the m7 mt but i've seen reviews, looked at stats etc. and i think m4 sherman is a better all round flanking medium in high tier matches and AMAZING when top tier! i used the top 76mm on the m4 sherman i found the accuracy and rof better for my play style!

Apples and Oranges.

Honestly, buy both as they're so different.

- The M7MT is one of the most fun tanks in game and was my highest score winner for a long time. It's cheap to fix and nuts; you do things in it you wouldn't risk your M4 in. Also, it's a Light Tank In Disguise so it tiers as a Medium Tank and so you don't face stuff you would in a light.

- The M4 is the classic medium; nimble, brisk and a good flanker and back up. It hasn't got the speed of the M7MT so you have to play Peek-A-Boom a lot more. The 105mm makes it a close range killer but it suffers at medium and long range, though you can still get convincing hits in. I went right through the tank with the 75mm/76mm guns and had a great time and actually found the Jumbo to be a bit of a let down.

Yes, the M4 is more of a medium heavy while the E8 is a medium's medium.  The fact that E8 mostly gets an upgrade of speed, accuracy on the move, and DPM over the M4 means that it loses out in armor, penetration, and alpha damage for its tier.  Honestly, the best low tier tank like the E8 is the Pz38(t).

Unfortunatly I dissagree. Near every American tank has a weaker gun then its counter part. So saying it has low alpha damage means every american tank is not really meant to fullfil the role its in. The m4a3e8 does not go that fast. Yes faster then the m4 but 45is is not fast when you look at other nations same teir tank. The m4 does not allow tanking with heavies as it does not have effective armor. The m4 is not a medium heavy but a medium while the m7 is a light medium. Speed= light, 75mm=medium, armor=light. that is why you get the m7 off the light tank line and the m4 off the medium line. You want the medium heavy you go to the E2.

the m4a3e8 is an upgraded m4. It maintains all the same charactoriestics just up leveled for tier 6.

Definitely the M4, right now its my cashmaker, it's pretty fast 30-45 kph and has decent guns the 76mm and the 105mm howitzer. Makes lots and lots of money, it has good maneuverability, and power, and slightly below average armor, however you can use its great gun depression to avoid being shot it

M7 all the way because it's a Jack of all Trades you can scout, flank, and snipe with it. You Get into a teir 7 game no problem just make a scouting run with it. See a kvjust flank him his turret can't catch up. Don't wanna get hit just and back and snipe sure you'll miss alot but you get loads of dirt cheap ammo it doesn't matter. That is why i loved my m7 I also have owned the m4 and i couldn't stand it! it was as slow as turtle and got 1 shotted costantly (I didn't use the 105) the only thing good about it was the credits it made but those get nerfed it seems every patch
