I got the KV and KV-3 just cause they were half off, and now free tank slots, what's the benefit for grinding to the IS-4?
Free tier 10 when it's moved, effectively saving you 6 million credits and 170k xp.

You might have enough time.  Just the KV and KV3 extra slots and tanks wound be worth it.  Also if you only get to the IS3, that alone is worth the grind.  I've only got a dozen battles in it, but I like it almost as much as cruising with the KV derp.  :)

You have about 50 days. That's 100 hours. Averaging 3k exp per hour (assuming about 6 battles an hour at 500 exp on average, and those are very modest numbers). So you should get 300k exp, which should be enough for an IS-4.

I say, go for it.

Slightly related: does anyone know anything about the tank that's replacing the IS-4 (leads to IS-7)? Is it the IS-8?

Last i heard it was the T10 aka IS-10 which the direct ancestor of the IS-3. The upgrade turret on the IS-3 was the turret for the T-10, which is why it was removed. While the T-10 isn't the IS-8 exactly, its derived from it. AFAIK the IS-8 never saw production, but the T-10 was produced in decent quantities (8000).

You can really increase your grind speed by saving free XP for those essential modules on new tanks, like tracks. That way you never have to start stock. And on this grind to the IS4, don't bypass guns. It will get you to the next tank faster without them, but you will need that 122mm from the KV3 for the IS.

Ahh just grinding my way up isn't enjoyable for me and I want to enjoy the game so I probably wont even try.

If I plan to convert 169k exp ( I have 500k crdit and a Elite IS) to jump over IS-3 and buy IS-4, should I sell IS to minuimize the gold cost or IS is a tank that is worth to keep. I plan to do this because I dont have time to play now and only to do this on the last day possible. I consider the free slot and a free tier 10 in the second line a good deal. Is it worth it?

I just recently Elited my IS-4, so does that mean the IS-7 will stay unlocked when the 7.3 hits? Don't have 6.3M atm so worried I might have to regrind the IS-3 to get my IS-7.

At 2 hours a day, you could probably make it if you bought a month of premium.  The benefits you'll enjoy after the tree split will probably make it well worth the cost.

Be sure to read through the Russian Heavy Griding Guide by JDCollie, including the comments which recommend several optimizations to the process.

If you don't have time to play, then sure skipping the IS3 might make sense.  I personally like the IS3, so you might want to go back to it.  I'd wait though until the date or date range gets nailed down.  You might get some time by then to play again to at least minimize your costs for experience and credits.

Sell the IS.  In my battles with the IS3 so far i make money where I didn't really make that much in the IS.  It is really not the tier 7 tank to keep, IMO.  The T29 seems to survive longer and make more money than my IS.

Probably more like April or even May at the very earliest. Yes he has enough time. It'd be a hell of a lot easier if you ponied up and paid for a premium account for a month though. Depending upon skill level it will be hard to amass the over 5 million credits needed to get to the IS-4 (IS + IS-3 + IS-4). That is a huge pain in the ass without premium.

Of course, that's fairly easy with premium and a Type 59 or Lowe though ($$$$).

I just got my is4... really sick of the kv, kv3 taking up garage slots but they will stay for a while longer... I did use premium and free exp but if you dedicate yourself queueing every single time you can, you should be able to get the research done... just have to make enough cash to buy the tanks.... funny though I loved IS, hated IS3, and so far love IS4 again with only tracks and just got turret this morning... still need gun and engine.

With premium IS3 could lose money, but with a win  or a loss that you did good damage on you gain money or break even... IS4 decent matchs do slightly better than break even, a good match with several kills or good damage you will make money, not a lot but some after ammo repairs and consumables.... a draw or less and you will break even or lose money depending on how many shots you took, or how much damage you soaked.

Really you either want to pony up for premium to try to grind it, or you want to get a premium tank to help with the fundage.

I highly doubt it, but it is possible.

You'll probably be able to make it to the KV-3.

Buy premium for 1 month, put in the effort on the weekends and you'll have the IS4 in 2 weeks or less. A premium tank helps a LOT with the cash grind, but a T6-7 med also does the trick at about half the rate. I did zero to IS7 in about that time period, but I was a fiend. That was last summer though, expecting to see the russian tanks within a month or two so I've had all those tanks sitting in my garage waiting since then. I give it another 2 months till 7.3 at minimum.

He said at least too. Hopefully I have another two months. That should be enough.
