Often there is a simpler answer than '...

Let me start by stating I'm not saying 'Hacks' don't exist, what I am saying is there is often a much simpler explanation than 'Hack'

So lets begin by using an example.

Malinovka

A few weeks back, I was sitting in my T25 AT, in Camo using the 105 mm AT Gun.

The game was roughly a few minutes old, and we directed a scout (platoon mate) to run up near the lake and spot for us in cover.

We were rewarded with half of the southern side of there base detected. Now it's not exactly rocket science to work out that if the enemy can see you and you cant see them, chances are they have spotted you. This spotting allowed most of our team to stay in place and simply unload round after round on to there side, destroying most of enemy.

I personally put a gold round, right through the back of the KV's turret,  ammo racking him. Almost instantly he started up on General Chat claiming that I had hacked the game, that there was no way I could of destroyed him without cheating.

His Reality I hacked the game
Actual Reality Lucky shot from that distance with a gold round and a spotted tank

The Moral of the story for both new and old players alike, is before you claim that the game is hacked. Sit there, think about all the possibilities on how you were shot before making yourself look like a little bit of an idiot.

tc

Just realised that this may of come off a little condescending, but it's actually meant to be a serious attempt at getting people to realise that there are other answers than 'Hack'

I one shotted 3 Type 59s in a platoon in a row with my E-75. They called me a hacker...

And WE ALL know that Type 59s are armored with ammo racks

You most definitely hacked.......j/k

Yea im sick of people saying this, though in higher tiers it is far less common.

amfg y u hax dis gaem? tech me mastur.

Nah, J/K.

Yeah, its so funny how people call you a hacker, when behind your own screen you're just giggling away at the fact he was spotted, shot at and killed.

I'm pretty sure most of us old players acknowledge the game doesn't have any hacks that would make the game unplayable, I mean yes there are the small ones like arty tracers being modified, hit box skins etc, but thats about all I can think of.

Completely Agree... Another example was when I took out an ISU 152 with my M12 arty with one shot. I was lucky in that I couldn't see him, but I did see the tree falling.

Again.. 'I hacked'

I'm tired of it, but instead of ranting on about hacking, I would rather educate new players that there are simpler ways of explaining why they just died.

I love it when I get someone to bark "Hacker" at me when Im in my Wespe after I countered arty them.  They claim they shouldnt of known where they were dispite them being inside the bush with camo.  I just remind them to put camo on their shells next time so I dont see their tracers  <_<

Oh and a recent one was a scout rushed our base and I was the only one there so I quickly changed positions to get a clear shot at him and TD his sorry butt.  As usual started yelling "a SPG shouldnt be able to hit me at close range! HACKER!"

Seriously?? I love doing this in my M41 and M12 - In fact most of the American SPG's seem to act brilliantly in the TD role.

I killed an IS3 in a one on one battle, city map in my M41 using brains, knowledge and a lot of gold rounds. He missed 6 shots on me, then claimed I was hacking.

My response, learn to shoot  :Smile_great:

The CLOSEST thing to a hack ive ever done is kill a tank that was behind a wall. I shot his gun that sticked out of the wall.

tc1259's Photo tc1259 Feb 08 2012

So he thought you bent reality, removed the wall and then shot him ?

Nope... He knew that the 1st meter of the gun is modeled and does actual damage to the tank.

Another good example....I started in the north base on Lakeville in  M2 medium w/ derp gun, binoculars and a camo net.  Moved over into the north end of town, close to the lake.  Spotted a SU-76 coming up the center road.  He stopped, looking straight up the road at our cap, so I figured I'd take a chance and squeezed off a round while I could still see him.

Boom, headshot.

Immediate cries from the unfortunate victim of hacking.

Hehehehe....look across the lake next time.  Just because you didn't look at me doesn't mean I can't see you.

I do come to the newcomers forum to see if i can get a few tips to improve my game play & I find "old hands" stroking their Epeen & saying how they put 500K binos & 100K camo on an M2 or use gold rounds on players who don't have access to them to "win". If you need these advantages to make yourself feel "elite" then I must say I do feel sorry for you.
While your "explaining" things how about a T-28 on one side of a farm house & a KV on the other side. The T-28, I have been told is commonly called a "paper tank", needs to play a defensive game & keep the KV on the opposite side of the farm house. When the KV disappears & I'm not talking 200 meters away or 100 meters I'm talking 10 meters through a farm house, drives around the corner & 1 shots the T-28. Its not a lag issue as other tanks were moving around at a greater range & stayed visible. Camo isn't supposed to work whilst a tank is moving I believe. Glitches like these are part of the reason I will not pay for a premium account. Another is the match maker putting T5 tanks against T9 tanks but I have been told comments regarding that have their own special section......

Large solid objects such as buildings and rocks will limit your spotting range to almost nothing.  The 50m at which you're supposed to see everything is for when there are no solid obstacles in your way.  This was not a glitch.

And camo is reduced while moving, not turned off completely.

I "hacked" once when I one-shotted a T29 on Mountain Pass.  He was on the north mountain where arty usually sits.  He was hanging far over the edge trying to hit some teammates that just had crossed over the bridge.  My guys had him lit up and I was able to pop an HE arty round at him, penetrating his soft, squishy top armor.  The hacking rant I got from him was priceless.

"Sh*t happen"
i've never claim anyone to be a hacker. i always think of the possibility just like you said. even if i still find it confusing, i'll NEVER call anyone a hacker.

Not sure what warrants a comment like that, EVERYONE has access to binocs/camo nets and can purchase gold if they wish. It takes a few weeks of play to get silver accumulated for a camo net or binocs with tier 3-5 tanks. :) I did that myself with my M3 Stuart and M7 Medium waay back in April-May last year when I started. Without Premium or gold rounds.

As for your T-28 (tier 4 medium) getting stomped by a KV (tier 5 heavy), I believe that's been addressed above.

Also, if you're driving a tier 5 medium, you will not face tier 9 tanks unless you are platooned with someone who's driving a tier higher, or a light, heavy, TD, or SPG, all of which are equipped with some sort of compensation in some way to deal with higher tier opponents. BTW you're not supposed to face off 1 vs 1 against a tier 9, there's 5-10 other tanks that you CAN deal with in a support role if nothing else. I agree however that a 4-5 tier spread is insane and often times frustrating.

ROFLMAO

Nobody seems to notice my "hacks'. Like shooting through an outhouse. Tank destroyed, outhouse still intact. Or through stone fence supports. And there was one, a couple days ago, where I was pretty sure I shot through something a lot bigger than an outhouse, with the same fatal results. Wish I could find that replay
