I haven't laughed this hard playing World of Tanks in a long time. All the +1s to you!

I can't wait for these:

(Start of Battle)
How hard can it be?
DON'T SAY THAT!

(Lighting up an enemy tank)
It just caught fire... All by itself
(Clarkson burning the Porsche 911 GT3 lap time)

(Broken Radio)
Clarkson and May sabotaging Hammond's radio in the Middle East Special.

The specials will be a neverending source of good breakdown clips. :P

I need to reinstall this mod. I just recall it being far too loud, maybe I didn't reduce the volume manually.

Amazing! Awesome mod for Top Gear fans and easy to install. Works like a charm too.

For me, it was a bit quiet, but I had all other sounds maxed out.  Right now, I run the voice pack at 100 volume and most of the tank noises at 50.  Pretty clear for me if you use that setting.

Not to set a release date or anything, but I have gotten through over 1/2 of the sounds for the next incarnation of this pack. While I feel I am doing a semi ok job of keeping quotes similar to their failure (engine related quotes for engine damage/destroyed/repaired, suspension/wheel/track quotes for tracks, bad things explosion related for ammo rack, death or goodbye quotes for different crew members (Clarkson is sort of Gunner/Commander, May is Driver/loader, Hammond is radioman (for whatever reason)) and overall it should over some time in use, allow you to get a feel for what message = what they are related too. To make an actual index of each one would be practically pointless as I am 1/2 way through and still have over 650 quotes to filter through + another 1.5G zip of hopefully all new quotes to add to the pack later. Trying to memorize what is said to what it means in a sort of document would probably make you go play something else forever lol.

Either way once it is done, I will appreciate feedback and mainly, look out for any quotes that are annoying or plain not in the right group so it can be fixed.

Until then, keep an eye on this page. ;)

Also as the sounds do come from an outside assistant, the volume and quality levels do vary quite a bit and though I will be doing my best to level them and boost them to audible levels, you may have to adjust your settings to accomodate the pack even once it is done and as required by the game (for whatever reason) boosted to all hell outside the game, and just above a whisper ingame.

May is Driver

A good one for the driver dying would be when James and Jeremy were driving Soviet Bloc cars and Jeremy and James raced, and when Jeremy pushed James off the embankment, he yelled, "Good bye Mr. May!"

Well I hunkered down and did my best to bust out the pack last night (25th). Give it a shot guys and see how you like it. :Smile-hiding:

Wooo!

Edit: There's an issue though. I dunno if it's because it's so big, but the client keeps freezing up on me whenever it has to play a voice clip using the pack.

It does lag for a second every time they say something.

Hmm. Well it is set to decompress into memory so at this size I may need to change that. Curious, how much ram are those of you experiencing lag running?

I'll have another fix to test uploaded in a bit.

New Builds are up. Test both and let me know if performance is improved (or worse).

Hard to test on my end. It will take a much larger pack to slow down a 6core with 16G ram and Raid 0 SSD's (1000MB Read/Write) :Smile_glasses:

Tested both of the new formats you put up and I think that the load with no decompression is the best being followed by the stream from disk one which has slight lag, but not as much as the original. Don't just take my word for it though and scrap the other two, wait for more opinions of people who have tried all three types.

When you say it is the best, is it fine like no lag at all now? Or is there just less of a pause then streaming, and then original?

I'm sorry I guess I probably should have made that clear. No biggie though. By best I meant that there was little to no lag or it was not noticeable.

I agree with Darksamus224, the no decompression version works great.

I'm about to test the no decompress version, but I'm guessing the compressed version lags because it has to decompress a part from a huge file and most computers aren't as awesome as yours :)

Tested the no decompress version, works perfectly for me.  Was getting a lot of lag today but not from the voice pack.  Will need to change tank noises to 30 though and increase computer volume further since voices seem quieter.

i'm testing the no decompression and hearing the quotes...

but a note, i have to put the voice volume to 5% or my speakers explode.

edit: even at 4%, some quotes almost saturate, like clarkson's start quote
