Well, I liked that you made an article on Brasilian Expeditionary Force. But it sounds to me like you are a brazillian when you mention the battle of monte casino and none of the more important battles the Brazilian army fought. Montese, for instance, was much more important for the general theatre than Monte Casino was. It's just what i was used to reading and listening while I was at school and, after some research, I found was an idiotic view of brazillian participation in WWII.
Anyway, for those who say Vargas wasn't a dictator and that people rushed to his funeral and all, well, most brazillian military dictators were well liked by the general population. People actually liked Hitler until he lost the war. Even the jews liked him according to some historians.

Well, this is partly my fault. Jinxx was asked to write content about units that were involved in, or stories related to, the Monte Cassino campaign. That said, we can always write another article. There are certainly more stories to share than one article can hold.

Actualy, most german jews thought he meant the eastern jews, not them. I'm bringing hitler into this because they said that vargas was not a dictator.

Wasn't worth the effort for the tiny contribution at the end of the war but atleast all the money the US pumped into Brazil to build infrastructure pulled them into the modern world! =)
Also cmon 25,000 troops vs the millions sent by other countries. =P Hardly a huge contribution lol consider that the Soviet Union had 10,000,000 millitary deaths...

Thank you WoT guys for posting something about the history of our beloved country Brazil to all the american server. Though i have to say you shouldn't tell about Vargas as a bad guy once he was one of the very few people that climbed up to power here that did loved our country and actually im willing to say that he was the one that most developed our country considering all our time of existence. Yet i thank you again for the post once its hard knowing about the history of every country that fought in the WWII.

Hey Vyviel, americans are lucky Vargas accepted theyr deal (mostly becouse USA has destroyed one brazillian submarine claiming it was the axis that has done it) becouse if he didnd't accepted the deal, axis would easily won the war. *hehe*
So be thankfull to Brazil or we would be living in a nazi world.

There is a funny story about FEB and US troops back then.
Supposedly some US troops and FEB forces were camped together somewhere in Italy, and US GI begun to steal food and alcohol from FEB supplies. After many complains from the soldiers, the brazilian commander talked to the US commander, as he replied: "We are at war. You should take care of your supplies."
A couple of days later, the US commander went to see the BR Co, and said: "Ok, we get it. We don't care about the food, but please, give us back our tank."
A dunno if this is true, but this story appeared on some books and on the Playboy magazine.

you are wrong in one side nicofer , getulio vargas indeed was president but then he created the 'estado novo'in wich with acusations that comunists were about to take the power of the governament , with people support vargas becamed dictator and acted as one for an long time , finally was deposed and then was once again elected later as you maked mention , indeed many people enjoyed vargas governament in Brazil just like Peron in Argentina they were dictators that ruled with populism at their side.
so the article is not inaccurate , many thanks for WOT for has remenbered us.
VALEU GALERA!!!!!!!VERDE E AMARELO NO PEITO !VIVA A PATRIA AMADA DO BRASIL!

The only reason that Brasil was even able to field these troops was that the Yanquis gave them all of the ships and planes and guns and even shoes so that they would hopefully use them to attack Argentina, because we were neutral and friendly with both sides in the war. More friendly with Germany, of course, after they attacked the Russians. We had a democratically elected and popular national government but the Americans paid off our military to make a coup against it and we got stuck with dictators for the next forty years. Maybe if they had been more interested in killing godless communists we wouldn't have tried to sit it out for so long.

Amen... I'm waiting for the comments saying that Argentina was a nazi country just because the US ambassador said that... But the reason for the neutrality of Argentina was THE UNITED KINGDOM. We sent supplies to England for free (because England had no money in the war)
Or, why not, Evo Morales and Hugo Chavez as nazi leaders too. After all, a photo of a soviet funeral proofs everything

The yanquis and damned british sank ships of both Brasil and Argentina, blaming the Germans for it, and violated our neutrality and that of Uruguay by attacking the shipping of neutral and their enemies in our waters.
Sometime I think it is a mortal pity that we did not combine and attack them and drive them out of our lands and help Colombia to recover Panama from their clutches.

As for Morales and Chavez, and one or two others it is healthier not to mention, you can change one master for another but you still a dog, and if you leave a better master for a bad one you are a foolish dog as well.

Good read!
Quote: "The Brazilian soldiers pondered the following: "How can we be fighting for Democracy if we don’t have it back home?"
WW2 was not about fighting for "Democracy"....but nonetheless good read.
Were there any German infantry divisions that fought for the allies? just wondering cause maybe this would make a good history spotlight article
