The recent update by WG says the top gun for the KV-4 will be a 130mm howitzer. Considering the T30's gun was in real life, a howitzer, this opens many possibilities. Speculations?

same gun as the is-7 and is-4 possibly? but that would be a slight bit overpowered...

scratch that...its probably gonna be a nerfed version of the is-4 and is-7 gun

It would make sense for them to have a cutoff barrel version of the 130mm S-70 from the IS-7. Just absolutely awful pen for tier 8, but great damage.

Howitzer is almost definitely a mistranslation from Russian.
Its most likely a conversion of B13 L/50 naval direct fire/coastal artillery Gun.

Su100Y apparently had one too.
Thats supposed to be a premium artie but the ML20 on Su8/Su152 already gives a precedent for that.


I'm hoping for 0.35-0.37 accuracy, 490 dmg & 175-200mm penetration.

I see it as a gun for ripping up T8 heavies with hull-side hits to oblivion.
Even under 175mm pen would be fine for that purpose. I do it to great effect with the 107mm.

Technically S-70 would actually be an upgraded B13 I think.

Significantly reduced penetration & reduced accuracy would mean you have to play it completely differently than S-70.

For a heavy you need at least 200 penetration at tier 8, hopefully 225. Just listen to all the T32 owners complaining how much they bounce.

Unless they make it a HE only gun. Except they can't do that for a tier 8......can they?  

You need 200+ for penetrating hull fronts.
But if penetration is that high then it can't reasonably have 490dmg as well without unbalancing the game.

I really want that 490dmg for flank hits & I'm willing to give up frontal penetration for it.

I suppose with that 1,200 horsepower and 50km/h speed limit, the idea is for this to be a giant flanking tank?

If the 130 mm  B-13 would fire the same shell as the S-70 with an average muzzle velocity @ 845 m/s then by my calculations it should have a pennetration of approximately 229 mm, but they will probably nerf it for balance purposes and I'm sure it will suffer the IS-7 syndrome

EDIT: With the slowest velocity (820 m/s) the pennetration is 215-216 mm (again if I'm right with my calculations)

A gun on a tier8 HT with its penetration no more than 200mm is too pathetic, no chance challenging a KT or a IS3's front armour (forget the vulnerability)

I really hate D25 family and the 130 gun turns out to be the kind of D25(low pene, poor accuracy,just hugh dmg), all I wanna say is I've FED UP WITH THAT and GO F YOUR SELF
