^^   :facepalmic: stupid

how is buying an armored car stupid?  you would be suprised at how easy it is to buy old AFVs.  there perfectly road leagal(if you have a comander and driver, and turn signals, and rubber pads if you have tracks)  granted if you buy ww2 and older your looking at some real money, but ex soviet hardware...a BMP runs in the 20k's, a BRMD runs in the 16-18's, and a T-72 can run in the 30-40's.   in comparison a new 2013 BMW m5 is in the 90k's and a new 2013 honda odesy is 32k....why buy the minivan for 30k, when you can get an amphibious apc that can hold the entire soccer team and comes armed with a 73mm main for 10k less?

heres a link to my favorite dealership...he actualy seems to be selling stuff prety quickly recently.  he only takes sereous buyers...nearly bought a BMP-2 myself $23,000 was an exelent deal...though the prices may have gone up thanks to the economy since i last checked...

The 73mm is specifically banned by NATO, a few ex-Warsaw Pact countries got to keep their BMP's by changing the turret for a smaller one with the machine gun.

A BMP, being tracked, doesn't make much of a daily driver.  They are also cramped, Western frames, and girths, don't fit in them well.  The armoured cars would be interesting.  A Ferret makes a better road vehicle, maybe a Fox would be good as well.

well the gun would be decomissioned and non fireable..so thats not a problem, and im not sure whats going to track an APC on a paved road(bicycles and dogs not included..), and why would you buy an AFV to be roomy?(im very short so its not a problem for me.... :Smile-tongue: )

ferrets are pretty nice though, and the ex-soviet BRMD's and OT's are really cheap.  plus, by atleast maryland standards where I am,if its 6 tons or less,  i can regester it as a recreational vehicle, and drive it using my normal licence.

A BMP is fully tracked, which is what I meant to say, not that it would be tracked, as in losing its tracks.  A tracked vehicle isn't the best thing for driving on the road.  And driving a Russian vehicle in a USA place strikes me as asking for trouble, somehow.

i duno...I'm pretty sure most people now a days wouldn't even know what it is.  heck...if anything everyone would just say "tank!" simply cuz its armored and has a gun...

and as for a tracked daily driver...here's a guy driving his personal striker through town...obviously to pick up some groceries

well, not daily driver...but a sometimes and to get attention driver...thats why we really want an AFV... :Smile-hiding:  :Smile-bajan2:

Well, a Scorpion and its derivatives use a Jaguar 6 cylinder (unless they've dropped something else in, like a turbo-diesel).  It's quick enough to get up to suburban speeds, if not highway or freeway speeds.
