Likely HE spam, happens to the IS-3 and IS-4 due to their monstrous hull armors but relatively tiny gun mantlets.

This. HE rounds are the first thing I fire at any IS-3, 4, or 7, and I always aim for the gun mantlet first. Second shot is tracks, then the AP to the flanks.

It's far better than what happens to the modules of the other tanks, from what I hear.

Seriously, my gun, crew and tracks are the usual casualties, and generally just one crewman. Gun is uncommon, ammo rack is rare. IS-3 module damage is relatively light.

One hit from the side, no matter WHAT, I lose a chunk of HP. Not just that, a critical that does DAMAGE. So the chunk of HP, damaged track(s), 1-2 crew killed, damaged engine, damaged ammo rack, and a damn fire to top it all off. And obviously, some XXXXX will always happen to the radio when ever there's a critical... so that as well.

You must be having a string of bad luck. Side shots almost inevitably turn into no-damage criticals for me :D

I swear guns in general became more fragile at some point. I lose them all the time these days.

Side shots just turn into a busted track for me :D other than that I may occationaly get racked or my engine get gets hit. I havent had a fire in a month or so(unless you count my panther(which is a tinder box back there)). I learned to keep a fire exinguiusher and repair kit with my tanks at all times and just recently added a med kit..

Its not that the guns are getting more fragile, its that you are getting hit by HE rounds that do 900+ damage on a direct hit to the gun.  A BL-10 to the face (in real life) would blow your turrent clean off, so be happy you just lost the gun.   :Smile-playing:

Nobody is going to shoot HE from a BL-10 first of all. Secondly, HE was a lot more prominent (and effective) before the nerf, and it didn't break my gun nearly as much then.

WOW IS3?? My German tanks suffer gun damage when the mantlet is "Dinged" but I rarely have my Russian heavies get the gun knocked out, and can't remember the last time my IS4 had a gun knocked out... Maybe bad luck is hiding on your turret.

My IS and IS-3 almost always get gun and ammo rack damaged, as well as driver and gunner killed. It was worse in the IS though. I swear they changed the gun hitbox is 7.0 to be the entire barrel.

Hi I'm an IS-4 and my driver is perma-dead.  Enjoy.

if you ever get ammo racked in an is3 its your fault or a good enemy.  Never even blitz to a new location if your side is exposed, its usualy unlucky.  Arty splash will rack you on a near miss sometimes.  Just got to get used to always facing your enemy square.  Protect your sides and the problem is pretty much nil.

The transmision goes underneath to the drive wheels in the front of the Tiger tank, so your drive train is being damaged even when shot in the front. It just happens that they don't have a seperate message system to tell the difference between transmisions and literal engine block damage.

As far as the IS-3, eh it happens. Besides with all the armor mechanic changes the IS-3's hull is better at bouncing than it ever has been.

Frontal shot to the headlight can hit the ammo rack as well.

Damaged Soviet guns are the worst.
They're already long aim time goes crazy and the reticle blooms to half your screen. At that point may as well ram stuff and shoot from point blank.
