Ok, I just got my T29 last night, and it has been pretty fun. However, compared to my tier 6 tanks, (Yes, I know, bad comparison.) the module experiance costs are sky high. What should I aim to get first?

1.Edit: Got the tracks.

2. I'm torn between the better engine, because my tank is so slow, the better turret, because I am near blind, and the 105mm gun, which I do know is awesome(Of course i plan to get all of them, but I want to know what first.)

3. I already have the best radio and the 90mm gun from the M6.

Any opinions?

EDIT: 4. Should I use my 93% crew from my M6 on the tank, or train the new crew?

For me when I was in t29, I go for the track ASAP because you cannot mount anything without the track. Then turret and 105mm cannon.

Engine for the next upgrade and radio last.

Work well for me :)

I was advised to get the turret first myself, which I did, and did not regret it.  The top engine helps, but it doesn't add that much.

Turret, play hull down and you will be laughing with every bounce. :)

EDIT: why would you NOT use the M6 crew? what else do you have planned for them?

Get the turret first. The engine is nice to have of course, but the turret will make you an absolute beast and your Exp/Credit income will increase as you will be much more effective and able to take a lot of punishment (and thus survive longer to dish it back out). The engine isn't going to keep you in the match as much as the turret will.

I never got rid of my T29, I love it too much.  Still my favorite tank.

My M6 is on its fifth crew, as I used it to train up the crews while I was grinding out XP for each new tank in the US heavy line above it.  Its original crew is still in the T29, about to hit 50% in their third secondary skill.

Why get the turret first after tracks?
Its got same stats as the stock turret except view range.
I've heard that it gets a reload rate boost but is it enough to justify delaying the 105mm gun research?

I'm wondering the same - why the turret first ?    All it seems to give you is a bit of increased view range.

I compare that with the advice I've received on how to KILL a T29 - "Aim for the rabbit ears!" which only appear on the upgraded turret.    So if that's the weak point of the tank, and I don't get anything other than a smidge of view range, maybe I should just never get it ?

The "rabbit ears" are no longer a weakness.  The hitboxes were removed in either 7.0 or 7.1.  You won't be able to mount the 105mm or the 90mm without it so you need it at some point.  I would definately go with the tracks first or you won't have the open tonnage to mount much else.

I love my T29.  It's the heavy I enjoy the most, especially since I fully upgraded it.

You get a higher RoF on the top gun, and more hit points, with the upgraded turret.

Well I got the turret & didn't get a RoF boost on 90mm.
I'm enjoying the better view range but I think I'd have preferred the better boom of 105mm first.

If its only the 105mm that gets RoF boost then the turret should be coming after the bigger gun.

1. Tracks
2. Turret
3. 105mm gun
4. Engine upgrades
5. Radio

Simple as that.

Again, why turret before the gun?
You can mount the 105 on stock turret.
In any other tank I'm aware of where that is possible its the best idea to get the gun first.

Because with the upgraded turret that allows you to live longer in the games which means more credits/xps.

The Upgrade Turret add View Range, HP and a +1 RoF to your 105mm. Look at the 105mm RoF stat in the garage's right sidebar when you switch between the turrets.

Get the 105mm if you want before the turret. Once you have the 105mm on the stock turret your average exp per game will almost double and it will take a minimal amount of time to then earn the turrets 9600exp. I did it that way and have no regrets.

You forgot to mention not to miss with the 105mm...ever or the bill is going to bite you on your rear.

Yes I get that but its not any good if you don't have the 105mm already:rolleyes:  so why get the turret before the big boomstick?

This is true to some extent.
The key to living longer in the T29 is clearly primarily about making the enemy plink off your nearly invulnerable turret.
Hitpoints just don't really come into it.

I did have a few battles with the upgraded turret & 90mm where the view range made a clear difference though.
eg on Westfield I was up on the plateau by the bridge, kept spotting mediums crest the far side & just blasted them one after the other.
I wouldn't have seen them with the stock turret.

I think I'd rather have had the big boomstick in the majority of positions I found myself in.
One of the most annoying has been frontal peekaboo with T32s. Like the 107mm on KV5, the 90mm just can't hurt a T32 frontally.
My first battle out with 105 (last night) I got a 5 kill because of the much increased lethality.

Tracks, Turret, 105. Then whatever you want before T32

Since you can mount the gun first, I might get the gun first -- more damage done, faster XP and credit gain, thus get the combination of gun and turret faster.
